Stallman’s is pleased to award May’s Golden Plunger to Green Man Brewing. Honorable mention goes to The Green Sage.
In honor of Sir John Harington, the inventor of the flush toilet, Stallman’s Guide will present “The Dirty Harington” award to the filthiest public toilet we review each year. The award will be announced annually on August 4th, the anniversary of Harington’s birthday.
On a recent trip to Green Tea Sushi to satisfy a sushi craving, we made a side stop into the small, but pleasant women’s room. We were first struck by the tile border of gold and, naturally, green leaves. The tile work is elegant and tasteful. Slightly less elegant, but certainly amusing is the clear […]
Walking downtown one warm evening, after consuming an inordinate amount of water (wink), we stumbled into Jimmy John’s in search of relief. We asked the counter person if we could use the bathroom, and, without blinking, they said, “sure.” It’s niceties like that which enable us to overlook the fact that decor-wise there’s not much […]
The Funkatorium is Wicked Weed’s outpost for beer barrel storage and is a tasting room in its own right. To get to the restrooms, you walk through the barrelhouse. It’s a pretty impressive stroll to the restrooms. Along the way, you’ll see wooden barrels the previously held fermented drinks such as bourbon. According to Wicked […]
Think plywood. That’s the overwhelmingly impression we had of the restrooms at Burial Beer. The interior decor is dominated by plywood from stall doors to dividers. It’s not attractive. It’s not hip. It’s just cheap looking. The entrance is weathered and interesting, which saves the day in terms of decorative appeal. Decor = 4 Things […]
Catawba Brewery’s third, and newest, tasting room is part of the bloc of breweries on Asheville’s south slope. The bar is essentially a gutted warehouse, and it feels like it in the restrooms. The concrete floor and walls are an extension of the rest of the brewery. We enjoyed the teal-colored stall doors and vanity. […]
Pictures can’t capture all there is to see in the loo at Green Man, so go visit yourself! In the meantime, a few more photos we just couldn’t resist sharing:
It may not have been intended as decor, per se, but the taxi service listing sign on the men’s restroom door at Twin Leaf Brewing is the best thing going in this otherwise flat crapper. Decor = 4 Yikes! People use a lot of paper towels during a busy weekend afternoon of beer drinking. Twin […]
On a busy Saturday evening on the south slope, Green Man was bursting to the seems with people. We admit that it took us awhile to make our way through the crowd to the toilet. The single toilet, which meant waiting for our turn in the restroom. It was worth the wait and not just […]
